Role summary
Role: Head of Platform (Senior)
Reports to: Founder & General Partner
Working model: Senior, hands-on builder with real operating authority (prioritisation, refusal, and programme design).
Partnership model: General Partner owns institutional direction, standards, and reputation-setting decisions. Head of Platform owns the platform operating system and measurable founder outcome delivery.
Mandate: Build a scalable platform that measurably accelerates portfolio outcomes (commercial adoption, capital, talent) and strengthens Motion Ventures’ ecosystem pull — without becoming a concierge service.

Mission
Build and operate Motion’s platform so founders consistently get: - Faster commercial adoption through credible pathways into complex buyers - Higher conversion on the connections that matter (customers, partners, talent, investors) - Insight and convening that drives measurable downstream outcomes
This is not a learning role
We are looking for someone who has done it before — built and run a founder outcomes / ecosystem activation function in a fast-moving, high-judgement environment.
What “done it before” means at Motion Ventures You have previously: - Built repeatable founder-facing programmes that moved real milestones (not just activity) - Turned a network/community into a system with prioritisation, packaging, and conversion tracking - Set and enforced boundaries (clear refusal discipline) without politics - Shipped operating rhythm + scoreboards that senior stakeholders actually follow

What we’re looking for
You are likely a fit if you are:
The Head of Platform is expected to have real authority to: - Set platform priorities and enforce boundaries (what is in/out; sequencing) - Design and run repeatable programmes (scope, cadence, definition of done) - Own platform intake/triage and say “no/not now” when requests do not fit priorities - Implement lightweight systems for packaging, tracking, and learning so platform improves with use
Clear boundaries - Investment decisions and underwriting quality remain with the investment owner/IC - Finance/Compliance gates confidentiality, disclosure, conflicts, and sensitive external comms where required - Platform is not a general-purpose service desk

- Ecosystem activation and introductions that convert
- Set prioritisation rules and manage throughput
- Improve conversion from intro → meeting → committed next step
- Package introductions with clarity, context, and a credible ask
- Insight and community that drives conversion

What we’re looking for
You are likely a fit if you are:
- Product-minded: you can design offers/programmes, instrument results, iterate quickly, and scale what works
- Commercial and pragmatic: you understand buying centres, trust dynamics, and adoption friction in complex industries
- Operationally excellent: you build cadence, triage, and systems that reduce thrash and increase throughput
- A strong communicator: you write and package briefs, intro context, and narratives with executive clarity
- High-agency, low-ego: you close loops, make decisions, and enforce boundaries without drama
- Built or led a platform function at a venture fund, accelerator, studio, or founder-facing organisation
- Led community, partnerships, commercial programmes, or ecosystem activation with measurable conversion outcomes
- Experience in maritime, logistics, industrial tech, or enterprise adoption environments
- An events-only role
- A content factory
- A portfolio concierge / “yes to everything” service desk
- A catch-all for ambiguous tasks
