Head of APAC

APAC represents one of ShipIn's largest growth opportunities.
We're looking for a hands-on commercial leader to build and scale our business across the region. This role combines strategic leadership with direct commercial execution. You will be responsible for growing ShipIn's APAC business, winning strategic customers, building a high-performing regional organization, and serving as the primary regional leader representing the company across the market.
This is a true builder role. You will lead the region while remaining actively involved in enterprise sales, executive customer relationships, and the region's most important commercial opportunities. You will also serve as the regional point of coordination across multiple business functions, ensuring strong alignment between local execution and global leadership.
The successful candidate will help lead ShipIn's next phase of growth as we scale the business significantly across APAC.
Key Responsibilities
Build and Execute the APAC Growth Strategy
- Define and execute ShipIn's commercial strategy across APAC
- Identify and prioritize the highest-value market opportunities across Singapore, Japan, North Asia, Southeast Asia, and ANZ
- Develop account strategies for the region's leading shipowners, operators, and ship management companies
- Build ShipIn's visibility and reputation across the regional maritime ecosystem
- Represent the company at key industry events, conferences, and executive forums
Build and manage the Regional Organization
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing commercial team
- Coach Account Executives and Account Managers through complex sales cycles
- Drive forecasting accuracy, pipeline discipline, and execution excellence
- Establish scalable processes and operating rhythms that support long-term growth
- Act as the regional leader, coordinating closely with Customer Success, Operations, and IT functions to ensure successful execution and customer outcomes within APAC.
Personally Drive Strategic Revenue Growth
- Lead strategic enterprise sales opportunities from first engagement through close
- Personally own and drive the region's most important commercial opportunities
- Build relationships with senior decision-makers across operations, technical, safety, and executive leadership functions
- Maintain direct involvement in customer-facing sales activities and complex deal execution
- Drive the region toward ambitious growth targets and market expansion objectives
Expand the Ecosystem
- Develop relationships with strategic industry partners, associations, classification societies, and P&I Clubs
- Create partnership opportunities that accelerate market access and commercial growth
- Act as ShipIn's primary source of market intelligence across APAC
- Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and emerging customer needs
Partner with Global Leadership
- Work closely with executive leadership, including stakeholders based in the United States and other global locations
- Serve as the bridge between APAC operations and global management
- Bring customer and market insights into product and go-to-market decisions
- Help shape how ShipIn expands and scales globally
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in B2B enterprise sales, including at least 5 years in the maritime industry
- Proven experience leading and managing sales teams (at least 2 years of management experience), while remaining directly responsible for winning business
- Proven track record of scaling a business, region, or commercial organization through significant growth (for example, growing revenue from ~$1-2M to $10M+)
- Experience working closely with executive leadership teams located outside the region, particularly US-based management teams
- Strong network across APAC shipping companies, ship managers, maritime service providers, or related industry stakeholders
- Experience operating successfully in startup or scale-up environments characterized by ambiguity, rapid change, and resource constraints
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a highly autonomous, fast-paced environment
- Experience working across multiple APAC markets, including Singapore and Japan
- Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience serving as the regional representative or country leader for a company headquartered in another geography
- Experience building and scaling regional commercial organizations from an early stage
