About the Role

Vanguard Tech is seeking an Intelligence Analyst to join its growing team of maritime specialists.

The successful candidate will monitor, research and analyse information across the global maritime domain, turning complex data and developments into clear, actionable intelligence.

The role combines routine intelligence production with support for live maritime incidents and crisis response operations. The successful candidate should therefore be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly and occasional out-of-hours support may be required during major maritime emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

Intelligence Analysis & Reporting

• Prepare high-quality intelligence reports tailored to client and operational requirements.
• Research and analyse maritime security, geopolitical and operational developments.
• Identify, verify and assess emerging maritime security incidents in real time.
• Provide timely intelligence and risk assessments to support operational decision-making.
• Respond to ad hoc analytical requests and contribute to thought-leadership content.
• Identify emerging regional and maritime trends relevant to clients and business opportunities.

Monitoring & Data Collection

• Conduct daily open-source monitoring of global maritime developments.
• Monitor global media, government sources, military advisories, AIS data and maritime reporting platforms.
• Maintain and develop Vanguard’s database of maritime incidents.
• Maintain structured maritime datasets used for analytical products and client reporting.
• Conduct independent research to develop and maintain subject-matter expertise.
• Ensure intelligence and data are accurate, relevant and kept up to date.

Operational & Crisis Support

• Support live maritime incidents and crisis response operations with timely intelligence.
• Monitor geopolitical events, maritime security developments and sanctions that may affect client operations.
• Liaise with crisis response, salvage and operations teams during active incidents.
• Assist in providing intelligence-led assessments during rapidly developing situations.

We are looking for candidates with:

• Relevant professional experience or academic background in maritime intelligence, maritime security, risk analysis, international relations, geopolitics or a related discipline.
• A good understanding of the global maritime industry and maritime security environment.
• Experience conducting OSINT research and analysing information from multiple sources.
• Familiarity with AIS data and maritime monitoring/reporting platforms is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, research and report-writing skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to verify information before reporting.
• Good awareness of global affairs, geopolitical developments and maritime security risks.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with intelligence, operational and crisis-response teams.
• Willingness to provide occasional out-of-hours support during significant maritime incidents.
